Angel's Historical ContextHistorically this issue has been building up and continues to be affected today. According to NASA’s Global Land-Ocean Temperature Index (1880-Present), their graphic demonstrates the change in global surface temperature. Since the year 2000, the last ten years have been recorded as the warmest years in the 134 years that have been recorded. This past year, 2015 was recorded as the warmest in history (http://climate.nasa.gov). The higher the temperature on the global surface temperature, the more water in the sea expands.

Vanessa's Historical ContextSea levels have been rising for centuries and will continue to rise as time goes by. Unfortunately, sea level rising doesn't have an initial start date or location. Which makes it unpredictable to have a specific location that will be the most affect by sea level rise. However, Earth has both large and small bodies of water such as Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Arctic ocean, Lake Michigan and etc. Many coastal states are on the edge of the outline of the United States which makes them the most at risk to be impacted by the oceans elevation. According to, National Geographic, scientist stated that rising sea levels has risen year by year since the 1990's. Rising sea levels is caused by human activities, natural activities, but most importantly burning fossil fuels have been the primary reasons why rising sea levels initially start.
